+$60 in a pretty uneventful session. Made one bad call for $20 or so, but besides that I played well.
Monday & Tuesday
November 29, 2006
Monday was another bad day. Somehow I won $10 before High Stakes Poker came on, but I was instantly down 3 buy ins to start. I don’t really remember why as it was yesterday!
Today, +$75! And I’m thrilled at that as I was down 4 buy ins at one point do to a few all in beats and a couple bad plays. I made an effort to tighten up today too. It’s so fun to play loose and raise the button ALOT and 3 bet light, but it’s so high variance and just unneccessary at $50NL. That, and I remember how at the beginning of the month I tightened up and had a good start for the month. So I’m switching back to just basic ABC poker in general now as I really, really would like to move up to $100NL next month – which I’m sure I will as I’m coming up on $10k in December from an inheritence and will not need to withdraw for a few months. Hopefully in January I can be playing $200NL which I’d make a very decent living on playing 2k hands a day!

Some days poker can be so frustrating! -$100 or so in 6 hours of play. I would still be playing, but Full Tilt crashed on me (it does that alot).

+$50 money wise as I cleared my $120 Stars bonus – lost $70 while doing it. Now I’ve deposited $850 on Bodag to get rakeback started, but when I went to withdraw the $850 I was told I can only get$765 because I got some $85 bonus. I guess that gives them the right to steal $85 from me? F a bonus, just give me my money back!!! Hopefully they’ll realize their mistake tomorrow….

+75 today – +$70 on Stars and +$5 on Tilt. My $120 Stars bonus is nearly cleared, but I really hate the software so after an hour I had to switch back to Full Tilt.

+$320 ($205 on Stars and $115 on Tilt).
I probably played over 6 hours today. After winning the $205 on Stars I went to Tilt to clear the 200 points for Thursday so I can get into the Ironman Freeroll. I have to get 200 points every day form here on out, but that’s only 2 hours or so of play.
My Stars session went pretty good the whole time today, but on Tilt, crazy, up and down and then some beats and tilt and it was down 2 or so buy ins. I finally turned a profit and then this hand form UTG was going to be my last and (and still was). I limped because I was pretty much done playing. Notice how the pre flop raiser types in his read with another player yet to act. When I asked him why he wouldn’t respond.

-$25 today. AA only got stacked 3 times today – and actually won 5 or so small pots. I tilted a little today for a big pot just after AA got cracked twice in a few minutes! It was a really long frustrating day.
I cleared my FTP bonus and played awhile on Stars (-$135 there, +$110 on Tilt). At first I lost a bunch gettin git all in on the turn ahead and being rivered. I’m very surprised I didn’t smash my computer to pieces. These beats the last two days have been brutal! I guess I should be happy that most of the time I’d stack them, but damn, just fold that 53o – that you called a 3 bet with pre – on a 875T board! ( 3 on river to demolish my QQ ).
So, yeah, Stars, I hate it! $120 in bonus and then I’m gone until the next reload. Hopefully I can run bad (vs terrible) and win a few hundred with that bonus – or at least get back to even so my bonus is actually profit.
Ahh, 1am, time for bed. There’s only a few $50NL tables on Tilt right now so I’m actually going to turn off my computer for the first time in over a month. Hope it comes back on….
Monday… F poker and especially AA!!!!!!!!!!
November 21, 2006
I got stacked 6 times with AA today!!!!! I’m so on tilt right now!!!! Twice I had AA on 2 tables and was stacked on them both!!! The last time was a few minutes ago and it was definitley tilt. An hour ago I was only down $25 for the day and had $20 in bonus nearly cleared so I figured I’d get even real quick, but before the bonus could clear I picked up AA and got stacked by QTo who cold called a 3 bet pre. (Just tilted away another $20!).
Back to a few minutes ago… I just doubled up with KK and saw light at the end of the tunnel. Next hand AA, 2 callers, 9TJ board, get check raised and just don’t care so I push. 9T off, gg me! I took so many other beats where I was 80% fav too. How the hell do people call me down with bottom pair just to hit their kicker on the river? How many times can I get raised all in on the turn with a set to someone with a middle club with 3 clubs on the board?
I’m going to bed before I tilt away my whole bankroll and next month’s bills! -$195 for the day and -$250+ just from AA!!!!!!!!

+$230 in a few hours today! I don’t think I played any Friday or Saturday besides messing around and a home game rebuy (where I bubbled for 4th, could not get anything going!). I’m up $1800+ this month so far. So I should hit $2500 or so for this month.
(+$260 in 3 hours today) My poker history…
November 17, 2006

Here’s a summary of my poker history:
In 2001 I found myself in Placer County Jail. They played poker there, for money, and I was broke! I’d played card games many, many years of my life, and was a winning gambler in them all. I’ve played Rummy, Gin, Pinochle, Spades, Hearts, Cribbage, Tonk, Casino, etc. in the past. I’d played poker, but not much. I remember playing 5 card draw, but that was it! Well, maybe a little stud too.
Back to 2001, I wanted to learn to beat poker for the love of card games and, of course, the money. So I watched this game for a week and talked with a few of the winning players. Then I sat in for my first week. I would have been about even for that week if it weren’t for that damn Acey-Duecy game! It got me for $30 one day. ( In jail that $30 is alot to lose in a day, as we had .05 antes and a max bet of .25).
From that week on though, poker made me money. The games were crazy home games, like… 7/27 Criss-cross, Broke down Diamond Jim Brady, Activater, Texas Low, Bruiser, Oklahoma, etc, etc…. Dealer’s choice, you could make up a game if you wanted – and we did.
After about a year in county jails and prison I was moved to a prison where poker was going on! I was so excited to play some poker again. So for 2 years straight when we weren’t on lockdown we played poker! And I crushed people! Jay was the only other good enough player to worry about.
Me and Jay talked poker stragedy (really, what we had learned from experience, as neither had ever read a poker book). We also talked alot about playing for a living when getting out. I don’t think he was as serious as me, but we would always talk poker. We finally got a book smuggled in too (you can’t receive gambling literature in prison). It was Hold ‘em Poker by Sklansky. A limit Hold ‘em book and we’d never heard of “limit” or “blinds” or any of that. That book was so confusing at first. I never understood pot odds for years later. but, we started to deal Hold ‘em ALOT now. We knew that was the game that made the money.
So anyways, in January of 2005 I get paroled from prison. My intentions are to start up an art internet business to sell hand drawn gretting card, tatoo, go to college and play poker. So I went to some college, never followed through with the internet business and really didn’t feel like tattooing. Poker, pretty much started off on UB after reading Helmuth’s book. (played a bit on Party, but had account frozen). I discover sngs there and won like 4 out of my first 5.
So to make a long staory short, I moved in with my girlfriend and no internet there. I’d go to my mom’s to play. I played mainly $5 or so sngs off and on for a year +. I probably lost $200 or so in that year. Sometimes I had no bankroll and would search for freerolls. I did read that Winning at Low Stakes Hold ‘em by Miller, Sklansky in that time though. Didn’t really get it as I didn’t play limit.
Now to the summer of last year: I ended up in jail again, but after 1 1/2 months was let go since I was totally inoccent. ( I really was, no, really ) I decided to take poker more seriously again because it’s really my dream job/life. I reread Small Stakes Hold ‘em and actually learned how to figure out pot odds playing .05/.10 limit on UB. I felt like the game really started to kick in (how wrong was I). I was pretty excited about it. So I built a $100 bankroll out of like $5 on UB. My main error then was: I’d lose and go to a higher limit to win it back. I had this “master plan” that I would play a $5 HU sng, and if I lose play a $10 HU sng, and if I lost a $20 HU sng. No need to go higher than $20 as I would “never lose more than 3 in a row!”. I also found out I loved short-handed and 6max limit though. Full Ring is so boring compared, you know? To shorten this I’d basically chase my losses by playing over my bankroll in whatever and went bust a few times.
I’d been reading pocetfives by this time and used to enjoy Fox’s articles alot. In May (2006) I took $100 and deposited it on Full Tilt and transfered $50 of it for a year membership at pokerfox.net. Great site, yep! It taught me about bonus whoring ( which I never really did) and RAKEBACK. soon after I bough PT and PAHUD and built my roll playing limit Hold’ em and sngs – where I won like 4 out of 5 of my first $5 ones. In like 2 onths I built up a $500 roll. At about this time I was switching to NL full ring as my main game. Some people on pokerfox convinced me to play 6max. I stared playing $10 and $25 NL 6 max. When my roll reached $800 or so I finally had my own house, computer and internet.
This was July of this year. With that $800 I tried out $50NL 6max. I didn okay, and transfered some $ to Titan so I could enter the pokerfox freeroll. I found the NL games on Titan very soft – and I joined cardrunners. With about $1000 bankroll I played $100NL 6max on Titan. I sucked then too! Somehow I won $500 or so for the month of September. That was the first month I started to make withdrawals. I withdrew about $750 of so from September.
Last month was my first month going pro. I didn it with $1000 on Full Tilt playing $50NL 6max. I figured if I could play 1k hands a day at 5PT/BB per 100, 5 days a week I’d make slightly more than min wage. I only made $800 last month with a PT/BB per 100 of 1.7! I only made $100 or so in $50NL, $300 in $100NL and the rest bonus money. I learned so much last month though. I mainly realized I can play a solid game, but I tilt in ways.
This month I’m up $1500 with it all coming from $50NL 6max (I’m actually down $300+ in $100NL). My bankroll is at $2800 now and I only need to withdraw $1000 to cover December’s bills. I’m so confident at my $ level now! I make so many less mistakes now and have only tilted away 3 buy-ins this month!
